Ancestral Skin Balm is an intensely rich, deeply moisturising balm created for dry, very dry and sensitive-feeling skin. Made with just three traditional ingredients — grass-fed beef tallow, calendula-infused jojoba oil and raw honey — it helps nourish, soften and protect skin that needs a little more care.

Particularly suited to rough, flaky, tight or persistently dry areas, the balm melts beautifully into the skin, helping to support its natural moisture barrier and leaving it feeling soft, comfortable and deeply nourished.

Every jar is handcrafted in small batches, with calendula slowly infused into jojoba oil before being blended with grass-fed tallow and raw honey. No complicated ingredient list — just simple, traditional skincare made with purpose.

What is tallow balm, and why use it on the skin?

Our tallow balm is a deeply nourishing, multipurpose skin salve made from grass-fed, hand-rendered and purified tallow, gently scented with therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Tallow is incredibly rich in:

  • Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K)
  • Essential fatty acids
  • Nutrients that closely mimic your skin’s natural oils

It deeply moisturises, soothes dryness, and supports skin repair without clogging pores - making it a natural match for human skin.

What can I use it for?

Tallow balm is beautifully versatile. Use it as:

  • A daily facial moisturiser
  • An intensive night balm

What does it smell like?

We scent our balm using pure essential oils only - no artificial fragrance. The natural scent will vary slightly depending on the blend, but it’s always subtle, skin-safe, and balanced to complement the natural richness of the tallow. We also offer anunscented tallow which has a neutral smell. 

Will it make my skin feel greasy?

Tallow melts into the skin effortlessly and absorbs beautifully without a greasy finish. Just use a small amount, and warm it between your fingers before applying - it spreads easily and soaks in quickly.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes - it’s incredibly gentle and well tolerated by most skin types, including sensitive, reactive, or eczema-prone skin. We don’t use any synthetic additives, preservatives, or perfumes.

If you’re concerned, we always suggest a patch test first - especially if you’re sensitive to essential oils.

How is the tallow made?

We render and purify the tallow completely by hand, using traditional slow methods to remove impurities while preserving all its skin-loving nutrients. Our tallow comes from ethically sourced, grass-fed UK-raised animals, and nothing is wasted in the process.

How long does it last and how should I store it?

Tallow is shelf-stable and naturally preserved, especially with the help of antioxidant-rich essential oils.

  • Keep your balm in a cool, dry place (no need to refrigerate unless your home gets very warm).
  • Best used within 6 months of opening.

Is it vegan?

No - tallow is an animal-based fat. However, it’s a traditional, zero-waste ingredient that honours the whole animal and avoids the synthetic or palm-based ingredients often found in commercial skincare.

It’s ideal for those seeking an ancestral, whole-food approach to skin health.

So far So Good!

I love how this balm makes my skin feel! You only need a small amount—just a little goes a long way. Amazing cream and excellent service

Amazing cream, goes on the skin so smoothly and isn't greasy. Feels super soft even the following morning. Reassuring there are only 2 ingredients and Leisha was great at responding to any questions I had.

Perfect multi use balm

This has been amazing as a multipurpose balm, I've used it on my eldest sons eczema, my youngest sons nappy area and also for myself when my skin has felt particularly dry. Its worked wonders for us all. You don’t need alot of product so i feel like its good value and will last a while. A definite new must have for me.
